Policemen injured in Bawku students riot

A number of police officers have been injured following a revolt by students of the Bawku Technical Institute.

The students pelted the police with stones resulting in a couple of injuries when they protested the transfer of their Vice Principal Jacob Felli.

Authorities have since announced that the Bawku Technical Institute in the Upper East region has been closed down.

The incident comes just a week after the Bolga Technical Institute was also shut down as a result of students’ riot.

The spokesperson of the Upper East regional police command ACP Thomas Agbanyo confirmed the incident, but said “it could not deter the police from controlling the situation.”

ACP Agbanyo said his men are patrolling the school to protect the property.
