Policeman shot in Kumasi by suspected armed robbers

Ashanti Region Police Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng has confirmed that one police officer was shot by robbers at Aboaba Akorem in the Ashanti Region capital, Kumasi on Monday.

She disclosed that the cop who sustained a gunshot injury in a shootout with the suspected criminals after an armed police team rushed to the scene upon a tip off to arrest them, is responding to treatment.

Leader of the gang, Bassad Obolo now deceased, is said to have ordered his armed men to attack the security personnel leading to the gunfire exchanges.

According to her: “the officer is currently responding to treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he is on admission”

Basat Obodo, popularly known as Outlaw who is on the police wanted list was also killed in the process but police say they are on a hunt for two of his accomplices who are believed to be linked to the killing of a police officer in Tema.
