Policeman shoots mason

Kade (E/R), Jan. 4, GNA – Kofi Danso, alias Abiam, a 35- year-old mason, is on admission at the St Dominic Hospital at Akwatia after being reportedly shot by a Kade Policeman, Constable Frank Adzavi, on Tuesday.

According to an eye witness, Constable Adzavi who was riding a motorbike through the Kade Lorry Station crowded with vehicles on a market day ran over the right foot of Danso.

Danso asked Constable Adzavi to take him to hospital, which was about 50 meters away, after he demanded to know why he was run over. This did not go down well with Constable Adzavi who was armed.

Out of rage the policeman allegedly hit the victim’s abdomen with the barrel of his rifle and followed him to a nearby chemist shop where he had gone for medication and threatened to kill him.

Danso dared him to carry out his threat, and as people were rushing to the scene, the constable allegedly fired two warning shots hitting his left leg in the process.

Fearing a mob attack, Constable Adzavi allegedly threatened to deal with any would -be attacker.

The source said policemen rushed to the scene and rescued their colleague to safety while the mother of the victim rushed him to the Kade District hospital.

He was referred to the St Dominic Hospital where he was admitted.
