Policeman remanded for dealing in drugs

A circuit court in Sunyani has remanded three suspected drug dealers including a police officer into prison custody for possessing a quantity of whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.

In an interview with Ghana News Agency, in Sunyani on Monday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer said the suspects are Kofi Minta, alias Kofi Nana Adu, Aziz Sulemana and General Lance Corporal Atira Kaba Gibson.

He said accused persons, charged with unlawful possession of narcotics would re-appear at the court presided over by Mrs Joana Arthur on July 17.

ASP Tawiah said the Police in Chiraa in the Sunyani West District on Thursday dawn arrested Minta with a quantity of foiled whitish substances suspected to be cocaine.

He said during interrogation, Minta mentioned Sulemana, a resident in Sunyani Zongo as the supplier of the substance.

ASP Tawiah stated that Police proceeded to arrest Sulemana together with Lance Corporal Atira who was found in Sulemana’s room using a similar substance.

He said a search conducted by the police found a quantity of whitish substance in Sulemana’s room.
