Policeman accused of raping married woman

The Police in Sekondi are investigating Police Constable Ebenezer Osei, for allegedly raping a married woman at Ketan Estate, near Sekondi.

The Western Regional Crime Officer, Mr. James Kofi Abraham, confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday.

According to the police, the victim reported that on April 4, at about 1030hours, she sold bananas around the Ketan Estate, while Constable Osei went on guard duty at the Western Regional Police Commander’s bungalow.

The police said the victim claimed that Constable Osei called her with the view of buying bananas from her.

When the woman went to Constable Osei, he asked her to send her bananas to the guard room in view of the scorching sun.

The police said Constable Osei suddenly closed the door and forcibly had sex with her.

After the act, the victim lodged a complaint with the Sekondi Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, leading to the invitation of the police officer for questioning.

The police issued the woman with a form for medical examination.

Constable Osei, who denied the accusation in his caution statement, is back at post at the bungalow.**
