Police Task Force Warns Hawkers

Accra, (Greater Accra) 13 Sept.,

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command said today that the police task-force enforcing sanity on walkways and pavements in the Accra metropolis, will as from Monday, September 15, arrest recalcitrant hawkers and confiscate their wares. A release issued in Accra by the Public Relations Unit of the Police Regional Headquarters said this has become necessary because of the hawkers’ refusal to vacate the pavements even at the peril of fines between 40,000 cedis and 50,000 cedis currently being imposed on culprits. The Command warned that ”it will not tolerate any act of lawlessness on the part of hawkers who are bent on sabotaging the efforts of the Task-force which is aimed at decongesting the City of Accra”.
