Police Task Force On Hawkers Get To Work

Accra, Aug 19, – A special police task force will as from Wednesday, August 20, arrest hawkers on pavements and reckless drivers to ensure discipline and peace within the Accra Metropolis. A police statement issued in Accra today said the exercise forms part of the Inspector-General’s programme announced at a news conference on Monday. The task-force, made up 150 personnel from various police stations in the Greater Accra region, today warned hawkers on the Kaneshie footbridge to stop selling there or face arrest as from tomorrow. It also warned drivers who park at unauthorised places in front of the Kaneshie market complex and elsewhere to stop. The Regional Police Command calls on the public to co-operate with the police to inject discipline, peace and tranquillity in the society.
