Police stop Anlo Traditional Council meeting

Ho, Nov. 13, GNA – The Police and the Keta District Security Committee on Tuesday stopped the Anlo Traditional Council from holding a meeting.

Mr Edward Ahiabor, District Chief Executive, told the Ghana News Agency that such a meeting was prohibited in the area following a court injunction on the Traditional Council and Kingmakers in the area. A Police source also told the GNA that some of the Council members were organizing themselves for the meeting at Anloga but were stopped by the Police.

The Interior Minister Mr Kwamena Bartels on Saturday November 3 announced the ban on public meetings and the wielding of arms at Anloga and its environs following chieftaincy clashes there on November 1 2007 in which four people and a Policeman were killed.
