Police shot in a crossfire with robbers; civilian injured

Two armed robbers shot a cop in a shootout during a robbery incident at Lapaz in Accra.

Reports say another civilian was injured in the process.

The cop reportedly fired three warning shots in the crossfire with the robbers but ran out of bullets in the process, giving the robbers chance to shoot back and wounded the Police officer.

The robbers were allegedly escaping in a saloon car with their booty after the heist when residents called the Police who accosted the robbers off the N1 Highway to Mallam.
