Police seize large quantity of ammunition

The Ashanti Regional Police have seized a large quantity of ammunition from two suspected criminals at Buokrom in Kumasi as it intensifies its fight to bring down crime in the Metropolis.

The police retrieved 130 live cartridges found hidden in an abandoned house, where David Apaya, 20, and Issaka Awuni, 19, live.

The two had been arrested by the Asawasi Police over the theft of a motorbike and in the course of investigations it became necessary to conduct a search in their ‘house’.

It was during this that the bullets were found concealed in a bag at their abode.

A press release signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yusif Tanko, of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, said the stolen motorbike was also recovered.
