Police seize 32 fertilizer sacks of marijuana

The police in Brong Ahafo have seized large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana at Niamankyere, a farming community in the Nsawkaw District and detained six people, two of them women.

Superintendent Alhaji Maama Arhin, the Regional Crime Officer, told a press briefing in Sunyani that they acted upon a tip off.

He gave the names of the suspects as Illiasu Bayo, Kwaku Emmanuel, Kwaku Sampane, Kwabena Burubo, Augustina Dongazi and Joana Kwabisie, who is nursing a nine-month old baby.

The Crime Officer said the substance in 32 fertilizer sacks, was found hidden in the rooms of the suspects during a search by the officers.

He said the six were assisting police investigations and that, they were also sending samples of the stuff to Accra for forensic laboratory examination.
