Police search for culprit

Koforidua, Aug 27, GNA–The Dodowa police have mounted a search for the culprit who shot and killed a security officer of the American Embassy on the Appollonia-Afienya trunk road.

The deceased identified as Mr Gabriel Amuzu was believed to have been shot by an unknown assailant 12 miles away from Adombrobe near Aburi in the Eastern Region while visiting his building plot.

A police statement signed by Chief Inspector J. K. Abban, Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer said in Koforidua that Mr Amuzu went on a hunting expedition at Adombrobe on August 17 after inspecting his plot.

The statement said after several hours when Mr Amuzu was not returning, a report was made to the Dodowa police by the chiefs and elders of the town but a search party organised to look for him could not find him.

It said on August 20, Mampong-Akwapim and the Dodowa police discovered the body of Mr Amuzu with gun-shot wounds on a culvert at Appollonia- Afienya trunk road.

The statement said Mr Amuzu’s body has since been deposited at the police hospital hospital, Accra for autopsy.
