Police say Jaman South District is peaceful

Katakyiekrom (B/A), Sept 29, GNA – Superintendent Kwadwo Oppong, Jaman South District Police Commander, has dismissed claims that hardened criminals have been harassing people in the district. He described the claim as “totally false, unfounded and has no credible source” at a public forum at Katakyiekrom in the district attended by Mr Apraku Tanor, the District Chief Executive. Mr Oppong said the police had not received any report about the harassment of anybody by criminals, murder at Japekrom or child trafficking at Takese.

Nana Gyan Katakyie, chief of the town, said the area lacked school buildings, toilets, market, and that wrangling among farmers in the area had also seriously affected agricultural production. Mr Tanor advised the farmers to unite to ensure the success of the cocoa spraying exercise and asked those whose farms had not been sprayed to submit their names to the district assembly. He questioned as to why they approached the media with the non-spraying of their farms.

It will be recalled that farmers at Katakyiekrom recently alleged that some farmers in the area had not had their cocoa farms sprayed because the district authorities perceived them to belong to an opposition political party.
