Police recover 11 stolen vehicles

The police in the Ashanti Region, have recovered 11 stolen cars and are holding eight people suspected to have snatched vehicles from their owners.

The vehicles include KIA Rio, Nissan Almera, Toyota Echo and Toyota Corolla models.Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Regional Commander, told a news briefing that the vehicles, mostly taxis, had been seized from their owners in Kumasi and sent to the Brong-Ahafo Region, where they were put on sale.

The crimes were committed over the past 10 months and he invited victims to help to identify their vehicles.

He gave the names of those arrested as Isaac Karikari, Lawrence Bekoe, Fuseini Sulemana, Isaac Takyi, Osman Dauda, Kwaku Karikari, Siaka, Hervna and Felix Dasaa.

DCOP Boakye said every effort would be made to track down and arrest their accomplices.

He said the culprits would be put before court after the police finished with their investigation.
