Police records 47 road accidents in Nkoranza last year

Nkoranza (B/A) Jan 9, GNA – The Police recorded a total of 47 road accidents involving 69 vehicles in Nkoranza District last year. Police Superintendent Peter Akwasi Denteh in charge of the District, in an interview with GNA at Nkoranza, said that the accidents claimed 11 lives and 59 persons were injured.

He said that they occurred mainly on the Nkoranza-Techiman highway, near Akumsa Domase and that ” Two accidents occurred on the Nkoranza-Kintampo road, one on Nkoranza-Ejura road and two on Nkoranza-Akropong-Donkro Nkwanta road”.

Sup. Denteh said seven drivers were fined a total of 275 Ghana Cedis for driving without licence, with expired licences and operating vehicles without or expired road worthiness certificates. He cautioned drivers to comply with traffic regulations and said that the police would work hard to reduce road accidents. Supt. Denteh said people who would ride motorbikes without and bicycles without head lights would be arrested. He advised pedestrians to be very careful on the roads to avoid being knocked down by vehicles.
