Police officer warns personnel against indiscipline

Winneba, June 1, GNA – Deputy Superintendent of Police Martin Asamoah in-charge of Winneba District Police Command has told personnel under his command that the Police Administration would not overlook any act of misconduct they might exhibit during official duties.

He said they would be held accountable for any show of indiscipline and lawlessness.

DSP Asamoah said this at a WASSA get-together organized jointly by the District Command and Central Regional Police Training School for personnel at Winneba.

He said the relationship that existed between the police and public was symbolic in nature, adding that they should not expect any meaningful and willing co-operation from the public if the police did not show respect to the public.

DSP Asamoah appealed to the public to respect law enforcement officers and to recognize the indispensable role they play in the nation’s democratic dispensation. He appealed to parents to educate their children to desist from using cocaine, heroin and marijuana that could destroy their future. DSP Asamoah said notwithstanding stringent laws and police efforts in combating drug trafficking, peddling and the use of hard drugs by the youth had not abated.

He appealed to the public to support the police to ensure that peace prevailed in the country, adding that the police should bear in mind that they could only have the moral courage to fight the social canker if they did not indulge in crime themselves.

DSP Samuel Okanta, the Officer Commanding the Central Regional Police Training School, Winneba, said the Police Administration had put in place training programmes to enable the police to perform their duties effectively. He appealed to the personnel to always stand up for justice and the basic fundamental human rights of all citizens.
