Police officer gunned down at Atebubu

A Police officer has been gunned down by armed robbers at Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo region.

Atebubu Police Commander Chief Superintendent Joe Dzinaku who confirmed the incident to Starr News said Constable Frank Klu was killed by the robbers after he attempted to foil a robbery on a passenger vehicle.

According to Supt. Dzinaku, the driver and passengers of the vehicle are currently being interrogated to help assist with investigations.

An eyewitness who spoke to Starr News said the gun wielding men robbed the passengers of their valuables including mobile phones and handbags.

He added that an unspecified amount of cash was also taken from the passengers

The body of the Police officer has been conveyed to the regional hospital.
