Police offer 10 million cedis for information on fake currency

Accra, July 4, GNA – The Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service on Friday offered a reward of 10 million cedis for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of members of a fake currency printing syndicate. In a statement, the police said it had come to its notice that a syndicate was involved in the in the printing of fake currencies both in foreign and cedi denominations.

The statement, signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kwesi Ofori described the perpetrators as economic saboteurs and urged the public to provide information for the police to apprehend the criminals and seize the equipment and accessories used in this illicit business. “Any member of the public who offers substantial information leading to the arrest and prosecution of these economic saboteurs would receive a handsome reward of ten million cedis,” the Police said.
