Police nabs armed robber

Tarkwa (W/R), Nov. 25-GNA- Many people trooped to the Tarkwa Circuit court on Friday to catch a glimpse of an alleged notorious armed robber Samuel Kwasi Adeaba, 26, who attempted to rob a businessman of his car and money with a Policeman at Tarkwa.

The Court, presided over by Mr John Ajet Nasam, remanded Adeaba in Police custody for him to appear on November 30, 2006. His plea was not taken.

Prosecuting, Inspector Oscar Amponsah of Tarkwa Police said, a Policeman pretending to be an armed robber joined Adeaba, a one-time car owner but now a taxi driver, to carryout an armed robbery at Tarkwa. He said the action of the Police was based upon a tip-off that Adeaba wanted an experienced armed robber to undertake armed robbery operations at Tarkwa.

Inspector Amponsah said some Policemen were detailed to lay ambush within the vicinity of the bussinessman, Mr William Walker Worglo. When the businessman arrived from work at about 2200 hours in the evening, Adeaba and his team pounced on the businessman at gunpoint, demanding his car key and money. In the process, the ambushed Policemen appeared on the scene and arrested Adeabah and his team.
