Police nab two suspected robbers

The Police in Kumasi have arrested two suspected robbers and retrieved from them a number of stolen items, including Ipad, laptop computer, mobile phones and cash.

The suspects, Anthony Boateng and Nana Yaw Owusu Banahene, together with two others on the run, reportedly attacked and robbed a bank manager and some students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on January 23.

They seized from their victims, cash, mobile phones, laptop computer, modem and a tablet phone.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) George Tweneboah, the Manhyia Divisional Commander, told a press briefing that the incident happened at about 2345 hours.

The Bank Manager was about to enter his house in his car when the robbers struck.

They held him at gun point, removed his mobile phones, cash of GH? 700 and took away his car’s ignition key.

ACP Tweneboah said the criminals then proceeded to the Nana Adoma Hostel Annex at Twumduase, where they attacked some students of the KNUST, who have being staying there and fled with a laptop computer, five mobile phones, a modem and tablet phone.

He said the two were arrested 48 hours after the robbery, and that they have launched a manhunt to arrest their fugitive accomplices, Victor and Fuseini.

In another development, the Police have arrested five suspected criminals in a special operation mounted at Alabar, Akwatialine and Sawaba, two of whom have been identified as Rashid Mohammed and Aminu Mohammed by some of their victims.

ACP Tweneboah said they were determined to go after the miscreants, to enable law-abiding citizens live in peace.
