Police, Military Round Up 120 Suspected Criminals

The Military and Police on Saturday arrested 120 suspected criminals, drug users and dealers in a dawn swoop in Sekondi and Takoradi.

The operation was carried out on the orders of the Western Regional Security Council.A quantity of items believed to have been stolen, Indian hemp and cocaine were seized from some of the suspects.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Obed Acquah, Commanding Officer of the Second Battalion of Infantry, who led the operation, the suspects were arrested at Amanful and Star Hotel area in Takoradi and at European Town and “South Africa” along the Sekondi Beach.

Lt.Col. Acquah told the press that the clampdown on criminal activities would continue until all criminals are flushed out.

He said the suspects would be screened and those found to be criminals would be put before Court.
