Police meet with Muslim Leaders

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Kofi Boakye, on Monday held a meeting with some Muslim leaders in Accra to discuss ways of ensuring a violent free celebration of this year’s Eidul Fitr, which falls on Tuesday.

A statement from the Public Relations Unit and signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Kwesi Ofori said The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander expressed concern about the violence that had characterised past celebration and hoped that this year’s festivity would be peaceful.

Mr Boakye said the Police would not relent in their efforts to ensure that the relative peace being enjoyed in the metropolis was not disturbed in any way.

He, therefore, appealed to the leaders to advise all Muslims, especially the youth to refrain from all activities that would put their lives and others in danger.

Mr Boakye wished all Muslims in the region “Berka Desallah”. Deputy Regional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Alhaji Saakah and some police officers were present at the meeting.
