Police are searching for Kwabena Dapaah, 45, a driver At the Akim-Oda Mobil filling station for allegedly bolting away with 16.2 million cedis belonging to his employer. Inspector David Eklu, Acting Public Relations Officer, said in Accra Friday, that the suspect was asked by the manager, Mr Michael Kofi Adadey, to drive Michael Asare Addo, pump attendant and Kojo Sefah, unemployed, to Agona Swedru branch of the Agricultural Development Bank Limited on January
11, 1999 to deposit the money. He said between Akim-Akroso and Akim-Bantuma the suspect stopped the car and told the two passengers that the car had developed an engine problem and asked them to give him a push. Inspector Eklu said as soon as Dapaah sparked the car, he sped off living the two behind. The two men, who did not suspect anything thought Dapaah was only trying the car and would come and pick them but he never came. Dapaah drove to Agona-Swedru Mobil filling station where he parked the car and gave the ignition key to Isaac Hammond alias ”Kwao Boadu”, a pump attendant. Inspector Eklu said Dapaah told Hammond that he (Dapaah) was sent by his Manager and promised to come back for the car but absconded with the money and abandoned the vehicle. The suspect was alleged to have phoned the manager from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, asking him to expect the money in six months. Inspector Eklu appealed to the public to offer information on the suspect who hails from Akim-Aboabo and is believed to be hiding in the country.
