Police Ladies Launch Title Defence In Style With 4-1 Win Over Halifax Queens

Defending champions Police Ladies made a commanding start to their Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title defence with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Halifax Queens at the Madina Astro Turf on Friday.

The champions wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Grace Animah opening the scoring just five minutes in after pouncing on a defensive error. Deborah Afriyie doubled the lead before half-time, giving Police Ladies firm control of the game.

Deborah struck again in the 63rd minute to make it three, completing a brace in a fine individual display. Halifax Queens managed to pull one back through Cecilia Acquah in the 78th minute, but Animah restored Police’s three-goal cushion ten minutes later, also sealing her brace.

The result marks a strong statement from Police Ladies, who appear determined to retain their crown this season.

Elsewhere, Jonina Ladies began their campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Soccer Intellectuals, while Epiphany Warriors suffered defeat against Army Ladies in the later kick-off at Madina.
