The Cape Coast police said on Friday that they are taking Master Jerry Mensah, son of the Minister of youth and sports back to Buduburam where he was allegedly abducted on Sunday night, for any clues that might help their investigations.
Master Mensah, a first year student of Mfantsipim school, was allegedly abducted at about 6.30 PM from school and taken to Buduburam by three unknown men in a red ‘Hyundai Grace’ van and released at dawn the next day. This was after his abductors had asked him to warn his father, Mr Enoch Teye Mensah that they would both be killed if this year’s elections are rigged.
The Municipal Police Commander, Mr Emmanuel Agyekum, who briefed the Ghana News Agency in Cape Coast, said it is necessary to send Master Mensah to where he was taken ” to see if something will trigger his memory that could be of importance to our investigations”.
Mr Agyekum said the police have no intention of providing Master Mensah with a guard, saying this could make him unable to forget the incident. He said he, however, expects the school authorities to strengthen security on the school premises.
He said tracing the vehicle allegedly used in abduction could be difficult since the boy, was unable to give the registration number. Police would however not relent in their efforts to get to the root of incident, he said and appealed to members of the public, with any clues, to help the police with information to expedite investigations.
