Police intercept Dutch with narcotics

The Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested a 46 year-old Dutch, Supriana Clarence Thomas, for allegedly possessing drugs suspected to be cocaine and marijuana.

The drugs were concealed in his green Benin registered BMW saloon car (number T 5353 RB), CID sources told the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

The source said Police trailed the car from Mallam, a suburb of Accra, and intercepted it at the Abekah Lapaz traffic light following a tip-off on the activities of Thomas as a drug dealer.

A whitish substance in a polythene bag and dry leaves suspected to be cocaine and Indian hemp were found on him when he was searched.

The source quoted Thomas as telling police that his Ghanaian partners must have planted the items on him after they defrauded him of 35,000 dollars for which they were to supply him gold.

He said he had earlier in the day picked some boys working for one of his partners whom he named as Nana Koomson and believed they had planted the drugs.
