Police impounds taxi suspected to be carrying stolen animals

Saltpond (C/R), Feb. 2, GNA – The Police at Saltpond have impounded a Toyota taxi-cab with registration number GR 1196 G suspected to be carrying stolen animals.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Saltpond on Tuesday, Inspector Patrick Yeboah, Saltpond District Crime Officer said at about 05.30 hours on Tuesday, police personnel on patrol duty at Abandze spotted the taxi and signalled the driver to stop.

Inspector Yeboah said the driver who was alone in the taxi abandoned the taxi and took to his heels.

He said when the vehicle was searched four goats and a sheep were found in the booth.

The crime officer said the police have intensified the search for the driver and appealed to the general public to help in effecting his arrest.
