Police identifies main suspect behind recruitment scam

Aisha Asumda, a 36-year-old lady has been identified by the Police as the main suspect behind the latest recruitment scam that has hit the Service.

According to the police, Asumda is already standing trial for similar offence but has been granted bail.

Hundreds of young men and women turned up last Saturday at five police training depots for enlistment into the Ghana Police Service, only to realise that their recruitment letters were fake.

The Police have arrested five persons in connection with the fraud.

Addressing the media on the development Monday, the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service, COP Prosper Agblor, said although the lead suspect is at large, the police have mounted search for her arrest.
