Police hunt for mother for using hot iron on daughter

Accra Oct. 13, GNA- The La Police have launched a manhunt for one Rebecca Lartebea, who allegedly used a hot iron on her six-year-old daughter’s left hand and right leg thereby causing various degrees of injuries. Lartebea is said to have sought revenge on Patricia Lartey, the victim who was said to have earlier used the same iron on her one-and half-year old brother, Daniel Lartey whilst the two were playing.

Speaking to the GNA in Accra on Friday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Adane-Ameyaw Nyamekye condemned the act of Lartebea, saying it constituted a gross violation and abuse of the child’s right.

ASP Nyamekye said on Friday 13, October this year, Ms Doris Lartey, Lartebea’s sister-in-law at about 1630 hours reported to the Police at La that Lartebea had used a hot iron to inflict injuries on her daughter.

According to ASP Nyamekye the incident took place at about 0700 hours at Kojo Sardine, La. He said Lartebea abandoned her injured daughter but later administered some local medicines on the burns of the victim and left for town. He said the Police have issued a medical report form to enable the victim to attend hospital.
