Police Hospital In Short Of Medical Supplies

Authorities of the Police hospital say there are in desperate need for drugs to help cater for the victims of last Wednesday’s stadium tragedy.

This is because the current stock of drugs at the supplies department of the hospital has run out. Speaking in an interview with Joy fm, the Director of Medical Services at the hospital, Dr. Owusu Afriyie said the hospital has spent more than 200 million cedis on the injured spectators and there is the need to replenish the stock. He said the hospital has had to discharge some patients for lack of space.

Dr. Afriyie noted that another setback facing the hospital is the breakdown of an equipment, which is used to operate on bones. However he said plans have been put in place to have the equipment ready by Monday. In another development, two victims of the stadium tragedy who were on admission at ridge hospital abscond.

The Acting Medical Superintendent of the Ridge Hospital, Dr. Eric Asamoa said the victims who got injured were responding to treatment. He noted that there was enough medical supply at the hospital and wondered why the patients absconded
