Police gun down notorious armed robber at Teshie

Officers of the Accra Regional Police Command on Monday shot and killed an alleged notorious armed robber, Alfred Kwasi Addo at Teshie.

Addo, 42, who has been on the police wanted list for years now, was smoked out of a hotel room in Teshie, where he’s been lodging for the past three months.

The deceased robber according to the police, broke cells and escaped with five other inmates in 2005. His action compelled the police to demote the then Chief Inspector on duty at Nungua Police Station in 2005.

Police source also indicates that the robber used different names in his operations and also trains other robbers to assist him.

Addo was allegedly planning another robbery when the police upon a tip-off swiftly mobilized men and proceeded to the hotel but when he saw the officers , he tried to escape by firing at the police first but the police returned fire, killing him in the process .

The police retrieved one locally manufactured pistol, two big sledgehammers, substances suspected to be Indian hemp when they conducted a search in his hotel room.

Other items retrieved include a bank withdrawal slip with a value of GHC 100.00 and bearing the name of one Shaibu Issah, a mobile phone and phone cards.

The body of the deceased has since been taken to the police morgue for further investigation.
