Police Gives NDC Regional Chairman Ultimatum

The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has given the Western Regional Chairman of the NDC, Nana Alex Asamoah up to mid-day today to submit himself for interrogation.

This follows Nana Asamoah’s failure to honour an invitation extended to him on an FM station where he (Nana Asamoah) was busily defending himself over a story published by the Daily Guide newspaper on his alleged involvement in a pre-mix fuel deal.

But Nana Asamoah who gave assurance to the police that he would honour the invitation for interrogation did not turn up and did not send any word to the police to explain himself.

Following the disappointment on the part of Nana Asamoah, the Police CID who waited all day long had no option than to extend the time to today.

Sources at the CID office say should Nana Asamoah fail to comply with the invitation for interrogation, the police would be compelled to go all to declare him a wanted person.

The Daily Guide reported that Nana Asamoah, who is not a fisherman is alleged to be involved in a pre-mix fuel deal in the Western Region which has caused the loss of over ?6.08 billion to the state.

But Nana Asamoah has denied his involvement in the deal and demanded an unreserved apology from whoever leaked the information to the media. He explained that he came to Accra a day to the NDC extra-ordinary congress and wondered when the Police started the alleged man-hunt for him.

Nana Asamoah also noted that he has not received any official letter or request to report to the police on the issue and stressed that he is not involved in any criminal activity.
