Police foil attempt by NPP thugs to hijack premix fuel tanker

The Swedru Divisional Police Command on Monday foiled an attempt by some New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in Winneba to seize a premix fuel tanker.

The premix fuel tanker was meant for fisherfolks at Winneba in the Efutu Constituency of the Central Region.

Speaking to Atinkaonline, the Divisional Police Commander, Chief Supt. Ahmed Issa Yakubu said the police service acted upon intelligence, adding that the timely intervention by his officers ensured the safe return of the premix tanker.

“Some NPP youth attempted to hijack the premix fuel tanker but my officers swiftly intervened,” he said.

He added that even though such despicable acts appear to be on the increase across the country, areas such as Swedru, Apam, Bobikuma and Duranpong, all under the Divisional Command have been peaceful.

Chief Supt. Ahmed mentioned that the Divisional Police will be having an intelligence meeting in Winneba later today (Wednesday) to address future occurrences.
