Three suspected armed robbers have been shot dead following a dramatic late-night shootout with police at the Tema Industrial Area, after they allegedly attempted to break into a warehouse.
According to a statement from the Public Affairs Unit of the Tema Regional Police Command, officers responded swiftly to a distress call on Sunday night, July 21, 2025, after reports that about ten armed men were forcing their way into the facility.
A patrol team arrived at the scene and confronted the suspects, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire. Three of the suspects were fatally wounded and pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining individuals, some believed to have sustained gunshot injuries, managed to escape.
Recovered from the scene were a Bruni mod foreign pistol, a double-barrelled locally manufactured pistol with two rounds of ammunition, and 11 live BB rounds.
The deceased bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for identification and autopsy, as investigations continue into the whereabouts of the fleeing suspects.
Police have launched a manhunt and urged the public to report any suspicious individuals with gunshot wounds. In the statement, ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for Tema, commended the swift action and bravery of the Kpone District Police Command.
