Police detain teenager for murder

Bennet Kwesi Tawiah, 11- year- old pupil of Obedeka Primary School near Nsawam, has been detained by the Nsawam Police for allegedly killing Francis Barfo of Okanta Primary School after a misunderstanding between them.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Chief Superintendent of Police Akwasi Kankam Boadu, Nsawam District Police Commander said, there was a misunderstanding between the two pupils and some friends and Barfo picked a stick to hit the face of Tawiah,

He said, Tawiah who was holding a kitchen knife warned Barfo that if he did not stop hitting him, he would stab him but Barfo did yield to the advice.

This compelled Tawiah to stab Barfo in the chest.

Barfo called for help and some people rang the police who rushed to the area and picked him to hospital.

Chief Superintendent Boadu said Barfo died on arrival at the Nsawam Government Hospital.

Meanwhile the body of Barfo had been taken to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy, while the police are investigating the case.
