Police destroys pick-pockets’ hideout at Nsawam

Nsawam, (E/R) Nov. 24, GNA – The Nsawam Police, in a swoop at the weekend arrested more than 20 suspected pick-pockets and destroyed their hideout near the Densu River.

The police, upon information arrested the pick-pockets who have been harassing innocent people and traders on the main rail line at Nsawam. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Nsawam, Police Superintendent Otchere Boapea, Police Commander in-charge of Nsawam District said the operation was taken upon information gathered from sources that the suspects were disturbing traders and passengers.

He said the pick-pockets sometimes snatched bags, break into shops, drinking bars and sometimes beat their innocent victims and ran into the Densu river to avoid arrest.

Supt. Boapea said the police would continue with the operation to make the place safe for travellers and traders, especially on Mondays and Thursdays, which are the market days.
