Police deployed to Sowutuom after Nigerian kills Ghanaian

The Accra Regional Police Command has deployed police reinforcement to Sowutuom to prevent any reprisal attacks after a Nigerian stabbed one Ghanaian, killing him in the process after accusing him of theft.

“The Regional Police Command has deployed a huge police presence in Sowutuom to curb that development,” Deputy Regional PRO of the Ghana Police Service, Inspector Kwabena Danso, said on Saturday, August 19.

The suspect, Peter Thompson, allegedly stabbed the 27-year-old Ghanaian on Thursday after a misunderstanding and accusations against the deceased that he had stolen his mobile found.

Ghanaian youth in the Lorm Nava area in Sowutuom subsequently planned to attack all Nigerians in the area, and the police had to move in swiftly to avert any clashes even though the suspect had already being arrested and is helping with investigations.

Mr Danso, who spoke in an interview with Citi FM maintains that, “the police is in firm control of the situation.”
