Police Constable dies in road crash

A 34-year-old Police Constable, Kala Vatalise, a driver with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Sunyani lost his life in a road crash at Abesim, near Sunyani.

Chief Inspector Francis Addo, Station Officer of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday in Sunyani that Vatalise, driver of a Nissan Navara pick-up vehicle had a head-on collision when negotiating a curve where the accident occured.

Chief Inspector Addo said the deceased was heading towards Kumasi when he veered off the road and collided with a cargo truck driven by John Acheampong who was coming from Kumasi and heading towards Sunyani.

He said it took the personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) some hours before they could remove Vatalise from the vehicle.

Chief Inspector Addo said Vatalise was rushed to the Sunyani Regional Government Hospital but was pronounced dead few minutes on arrival.
