Police Constable arrested for alleged defilement

Mampong (Ash), Dec. 30, GNA – A police constable at Beposo in the Sekyere Central District has been arrested for alleged defilement of a 13-year old primary school pupil. Constable Jeoffery Agbohla has been granted police inquiry bail. Police Chief Superintendent Edward Oduro Kwateng, Asante-Mampong Divisional Commander, who confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency, s= aid the policeman was detained over-night.

This was after a medical report by doctors at the Asante-Mampong District Hospital established that the victim had indeed been defiled. He said as soon as investigations were completed, Constable Agbohla would be put before Court.

Meanwhile, the Assembly-member for Beposo, Mr Kofi Asare, has appeal= ed to the Police Administration to act quickly on the case to ensure justice= .. The appeal comes amidst growing suspicion among sections of the community that the police are trying to protect Constable Agbohla.
