Police bust two Nigerians for robbery

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested two Nigerians for allegedly breaking into a vehicle and stealing GH¢ 3,000. Ododire Eberende, alias Emeka, 21, a footballer, and Stephen Onwondi, alias Jerry, 28, a mobile phone dealer, are in police custody awaiting trial.

The Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, told the GNA the suspects, who reside in Accra, arrived on July 9 in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and booked a room in a hotel at Apremdo near Takoradi.

The next day Ododire used a motorbike to trail Mr Francis Nyame who had withdrawn money from the Takoradi branch of the National Investment Bank and headed for the Harlem Restaurant and left the money in the car.

Ododire used a special metal tool designed for opening car doors, broke into the vehicle and took the money. However, when Ododire attempted to join his friend on a waiting motorbike someone who had seen the suspect opening the door of the vehicle raised the alarm and they were arrested.
