Police Boss Puts Wife In Cell

A policeman dragged his wife to a police station and had her detained in police cells for allegedly stealing his 14 inch-Television set at Pig Farm, a suburb of Accra, the Enquirer newspaper has learnt.

The police officer, Superintendent Yakubu Nantogmah, allegedly dragged his wife, Comfort Teni Yamba, whom he had married for over 18 years and are blessed with three children, to the Kotobabi police station for giving out an unused 14 inches Television set to her sister two years ago without his approval.

A source at the Kotobabi police station told The Enquirer that, the police superintendent has used his uniform to abuse the helpless woman by ordering his juniors to place her in police cells to teach her a lesson that, he (Superintendent) is a police officer and that even the IGP could not stop him from any act he takes in the country.

According to the source, Madam Comfort was arrested on Wednesday September 1, this year, the day Muslims throughout the world, including Superintendent Yakubu, were celebrating the Ei-dul-Fitr festival for peace and harmony in the country and in the world. The source said, despite the explanation by the suspect to her husband that she did not steal the TV but because it was not being used and the sister needed it – the reason why she gave it to her, the husband would not take it.

When The Enquirer managed to get in contact with the station crime officer, Assistant Superintendent of police (ASP) John Coffie, he confirmed the case, but refused to give details.

According to the crime officer, the case is of marital one and would wish that, the media stayed out of it, as they were trying to see how best to solve it in the interest of the children in between them. The suspect, Comfort Teni Yamba, is currently on self-recognized police enquiry bail, pending further investigation into the matter.
