Police beef security at NPP congress

Accra, Aug. 6, GNA – The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has put in place security measures to ensure that the August 7, NPP National Delegates Conference was conducted peacefully.

A statement issued in Accra on Friday and signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Zenge Cyprian, Head of Public Affairs said the “Command is resolved to protect all the delegates as well as the process before, during and after the congress.”

It said the Command had directed all Divisional and District Commanders to deploy enough personnel to provide adequate security at all the polling centres in the Region as well as the collation centre at Afua Sutherland Children’s Park.

The statement said the Police would be on hand to supervise smooth conduct and collation of the ballots to the collation centre and advised all delegates to conduct themselves in an orderly manner at all the centres.

However, it warned those who might want to foment trouble to rescind their decision because there would not be any room for such behaviours, adding ” the laws would take care of any such person or group of persons who may be caught in doing any act that may disturb the peace”.
