Police ban Apostles’ anniversary

Accra, Dec. 22, GNA – The Volta Regional Police Command on Thursday banned the 66th anniversary celebration of Apostles Revelation Society (ARS) at Tadzewu, the Headquarters of the Church and its environs including Dalame, Agbevekofe and Kutsime.

The anniversary, which normally takes the form of a church convention, was scheduled for December 23 to December 30, 2005 and according to the Police the ban was to forestall the breach of the peace.

A statement Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) E. B. Ansong, the Regional Police Commander signed, said the ban was reinforced on December 22 by a Ho High Court order restraining the Church from holding the anniversary.

The Police asked for co-operation to ensure that the directive was adhered to and no one should fall foul of the law. The Church had been locked in a protracted leadership struggle following the death of its founder Apostle Wovenu about 10 years ago.
