Police avert clash between Fulani herdsmen and community

Gbefi (V/R), Feb. 25, GNA – The timely response by the Police on Tuesday averted a potential bloody confrontation between the people of Gbefi Tornu and Fulani herdsmen over bushfires and the destruction of farms in the area.

A Police source told the Ghana News Agency that tension between the two groups, which had been raging since the beginning of the year, heightened on Tuesday when herds of cattle were seen in the area. The Kpando District Security Council has given the herdsmen two weeks to leave the area with their flock. Two Fulani herdsmen who were seized by the community have since been released by security personnel while a search was being conducted to locate a third herdsman who is reportedly missing.
