Police assure safety of travelers on Asankrangwa-Sefwi road

The divisional police commander for Tarkwa, Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Ayitey, has said a police patrol team has been operating on the Asankrangwa to Sefwi road to ensure the safety of road users.

He said since the operation started last year, robbery had reduced.

ACP Ayitey told the GNA in an interview that, because of the poor nature of the road and the unavailability of telecommunication networks on certain parts of the road, armed robbers took advantage to rob travellers.

He said the police had identified two locations used by the robbers and that the patrol team would ensure that the robbers are flushed out.

ACP Ayitey appealed to road users, particularly drivers and business men not to travel in the night and to seek police escort when they are travelling with huge sums of money.
