Police asked to investigate murder at Kuano

Suhum, Jan. 23, GNA – Mr Kwao Obenyeme, Secretary to the Unit Committee of Kuano near Suhum, has appealed to the Police Administration to investigate the murder of Emmanuel Akornotey, at Kuano last December.

The deceased, a 50-year-old farmer and storekeeper was believed to have been killed on a cocoa farm and dumped in his room. Mr Obenyeme said prior to the tragedy the deceased had his store broken into and all the goods and money stolen and the shop set on fire. The Unit Committee Secretary said Akornotey reported the incident to the police and the Gyasehene of the town but no arrest was made. Mr Obenyeme said on December 13 last year, while the deceased was asleep in his room in the night, a gang attacked and dragged him to a near by cocoa farm and murdered him. He said the murderers, who he suspected to be taking refuge at nearby villages, later ransacked the room of the deceased and made away with all personal his effects and GH C2,500 cedis, being proceeds from cocoa he had sold the previous day.
