Police arrest two suspected robbers

Two men, who reportedly attacked and robbed a taxi driver of his cash and Samsung mobile phone have been arrested by the police.

Iddrisu Nuhu and Saeed Sesei, had engaged the services of the victim, Daniel Osei, to convey them in his car from the Kumasi Central Market to the Bekwai Roundabout, and midway through the journey, they robbed him.

They tied his neck to his seat with a nylon sponge and forcibly took his money and phone and fled into a nearby bush.

Deputy Commissioner of Police DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, told a media briefing that the incident happened on August 3, at about 2130 hours.

He said the shrill cry of the victim attracted the attention of passers-by who freed him, chased, captured and handed the suspects over to the police.

He said a knife and nylon sponge were found on the pair during a search.

DCOP Boakye said the two would be put before court as soon as they finish with investigations.
