Police arrest two armed robbers in Takoradi

Takoradi, Dec 29, GNA- Two armed robbers, Michael Quaye, 32 and Wisdom Tamakloe, 30, have been arrested by the Takoradi Central Police after stealing a taxicab in Takoradi.

The men poured acid on the driver, Samuel Arthur, who died the next day, before they fled with the Toyota Corolla towards Tarkwa on December 25.

A Police source told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Takoradi on Monday that the two men boarded a Kwesimintsim bound taxi at Anaji but mid-way through the journey they poured acid on the driver, dumped him by the roadside and drove away in the taxi.

The source said that commuters along the route saw the victim, rushed him to the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital and later informed the Police. A Police Patrol team on the main Tarkwa road arrested the two suspects.
