Police arrest third suspect in connection with murder of farmer

Abuakwa (Ash), May.31, GNA – The Abuakwa police on Friday arrested a third suspect in connection with the murder of Opanin Kwaku Poku, a 50 year old farmer at Mpasatia in the Atwima District.

Yaw Badu, the suspect is a 38-year old car dealer at the Bekwai round- about in Kumasi.

Already two people, Osei Kwabena alias Nana Guy, a 40 year old businessman and his driver Francis Donkor have been placed in prison custody in connection with the murder of Opanin Poku, believed to be for ritual purposes.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Abuakwa on Sunday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Emmanuel Akonor said, on May 13 this year, one Jeromah went to his farm at the outskirts of Mpasatia. He said while on the farm, he smelt an unusual scent and traced it to a place where he found a male adult hanging from a branch. ASP Akonor said, a report was made to the police who went to the scene and discovered that the wrists and feet of the deceased had been cut off and a deep cut on his neck.

He said police investigations first led to the arrest of Nana Guy and his driver and later the arrest of Badu. 31 May 08
