Police arrest man for murdering his ex-lover at Apremdo

The Kwesimintsim police have arrested Francis Agbemenya, 37, for murdering his ex-lover, Beatrice Enyonam Larwetey, last Saturday at Apremdo, near Takoradi.

The suspect was nearly lynched by the residents of Apremdo on Monday when he re-surfaced at the community but escaped to the Second Infantry Battalion Barracks at Apremdo and was handed over to the police.

The Kwesimintsim District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Ayamga Aklogo Yakubu confirmed the arrest to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday.

He said Agbemenya would be arraigned before the Takoradi Circuit court on Wednesday charged with murder.

Agbemenya was alleged to have severed the head of his ex-girl friend, Beatrice Enyonam Larwetey with a machete last Saturday, January19, and bolted after the crime.

The police said the suspect had a two-year-old boy with the deceased but separated due to persistent misunderstanding between them.
